I have a 46 year old daughter who suffered a traumatic brain injury in 1992, she recovered from most of the limitations, except for speech. She was unable to speak for 14 years and started taking Ambien. One night she started talking to me and she spoke as if she had never stopped. Her speech was clear and knew what was asked of her and answered appropriately. This lasted for about 2 years, but has come to a point where she can barely speak without asking over and over again what she said. It has now becoe frustrating to her and the family, because she is unable to converse once again, if anyone else has experienced this or can be of assistance, please contact me.

Thank you.

I have been taking ambien for a year now and was advised by psych. to quit cold turkey last night, which I did. I have complained about not remembering what I do in the evenings for quite some time and that I had been accused of several things that I have no recall of. All specialist would just look at me. It felt as if they did not believe me because also had ECT a year ago. To finally see an explanation of the terror I have felt is going to be a life saver.

My girlfriend abuses Ambien CR for the lucid dreaming. She takes 4x the dose and uses her prescription up in a week, then doubles up on her Xanax for another week, then suffers insomnia for the next 2 weeks until she gets her Ambien CR scrip refilled. She gets extremely agitated, has written things in basically a different personality, and is extremely aggressive when on the drug.

She also suffers from sleep paralysis, which I have read can be made worse by taking Ambien CR. I have sen her get very upset when she comes out of a sleep paralysis episode, but she is so hooked on the lucid dreaming that she will not listen to my pleas to at least cut down to the prescribed dose and take it throughout the month.

I have no official capacity in her life, I am just a boyfriend - pretty much an ex because of this issue. But I think she needs rehab and she has a job that requires a security clearance. I fear she will do something to cause her clearance to be revoked because she gets wild on this stuff, and in the aftermath when she runs out.
